GDP Colour Challenge - Playgroup Scrapbook #GDP277

 Howdy all,

Welcome to my Sunday Session blog post as part of Global Design Project #GDP277 Blog Hop.

The Global Design Project has a range of different challenges from colours to sketches every week, but the one I look forward to the most is the colour challenge. The provide the selected colours and we can only use those plus Basic Black, Basic White, Vanilla and Crumb Cake.

Since #GDP277 was the pinks which always pose a challenge for me I thought maybe I would try a scrapbooking Memories & More page for my daughter. I loved this photo for it as it not only had the pinks in her dress but the carpet reminded me of the Sahara Sand colour.

The Love You Always Suite was so perfect as it matches the colour challenge colours and such beautiful specialty paper with foils and foil embossing. All the hard work of coordinating done for me, score!

To create the title I used a Blending Brush to add the Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose to the cardstock in an ombre style. Then added foam sheets to the back and die cut with the Playful Alphabet Dies. Adding the foam before die cutting makes your own perfect matching alpha foam stickers, no need to worry about having enough letters in a pack. I also used used the Blending Brush softening the edge of the page with the pinks. My tips are to hold the brush itself rather than the handle, start off the paper and gently move onto it and use the thick basic white cardstock for the best results. When die cutting with foam, run it through a few times.

The key to elements of a scrapbooking page are photo, title, mats & borders and journaling - minimum of the who, what, when, where. Journaling is definitely a sore point for me, a real struggle but I loved having a play with how I could split the basic journaling details all over the page.

I even used the Scripty 3D Embossing folder on the Blushing Bride cardstock to add yet more texture.

Embellishments are key to this page that's full of depth, texture and colour. I chose two spots to add heavy embellishments with lots of die cuts, varying paper types and colours. It was fun using a range of different dies to make my own embellishments. Of course it was all finished off with the Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon and Rococo Rose pearls from the Pastel Pearls.

If this page looks a bit over the top for you, here is another page from her book with some of the same papers that is beautiful but simple for a beginner.

Marshmallow Fluff & Pink Licorice

Howdy all,

Welcome to my Tuesday Talk blog post as part of Art For The Mind #AFTMTSC1 Blog Hop.

I'm the Team Leader for The Shiny Stampers, a Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator Team. Our team is small but great. We love to support one another and spur each other's love of crafting on. We may also be enablers when it comes to craft stashes so be warned. The team meets weekly over zoom to catch up on the news, get any insider goss, share techniques and have some fun doing some crafty times. To support each other's growth we have decided to start doing challenges. Each month we will work on a different challenge, these can be colours, themes, products, techniques, you name it! Those of us developing our social media presence will join in this blog hop based on the challenge and share our creations, and also provide a way to build each others social media presence.

This month's challenge is: Love

I decided that not only would I challenge myself with the theme LOVE but I would also try to challenge myself further to use more Pink this month, as it's a colour I often avoid working with. For this card I tried 2 completely different pink looks for the exact same card to show how just changing a few bits up can give a card a whole new look.

I'd love to see your versions of this card, just hashtag your posts of it with #marshmallowandlicorice.

Both card's are made using just 2 dies from the Floral Hearts die set and the sentiment stamp from the Always in My Heart stamp set. What makes these cards so standout though is the use of several specialty papers, layering and bling!

Marshmallow Fluff is the more traditional pink colouring with an abundance of different textures in Rococo Rose. It makes use of both the Love You Always Foil Sheets, and Love You Always Specialty Designer Series Paper with brings across the matching foil elements. A little Vellum and some bling from Pastel Pearls and Resin Hearts just to really build on the luxury feel of the card.

Pink Liquorice on the other hand had a bold hot pink and black theme. Using the brightness of Magenta Madness to offset the harshness of the black. It makes use of both the True Love Designer Series Paper, and the Black Glitter Paper for a bit of sparkle. A little Vellum and some bling from Matte Black Dots and Resin Hearts just to ensure the luxury feel flows across this card too.

Tip: Don't have Black Embossing Powder or whichever Stampin' Up! colour you needed, don't stress you can still emboss in that colour. The trick is; ink your stamp in VersaMark, then ink it directly into your chosen colour, then stamp. Quickly while still wet, cover with Clear Embossing Powder and emboss per normal. Always VersaMark first, Colour ink pad second, stamp image third, otherwise you'll dirty your VersaMark ink pad. On this card I have used this technique with the Memento Black Ink to create the black embossed sentiment, I think it turned out clear and vibrant.

The Love You Always Suite is a BIG one and has 2 stamp and die bundles, 3 paper ranges including specialty and a gorgeous range of embellishments. The Love You Always Suite and all it's parts are available now in the new Jan-June Mini Catalogue. Click HERE to see what other fabulous products are available in the Mini Catalogue.
