Coffee & Cards
Coffee & Cards is another new addition to our
blended learning programs. It’s been created to assist in these times of self
isolation, quarantines and lock downs with a focus on social skills, engagement
and connection.
Like all Art For The Mind blended programs, it has
been built for the long term as well as the current situation, to ensure
options to expand social networks and engage those who may normally have
limited access to attending face-to-face groups.
I hope this new option can bridge the gap for you and I look forward to hearing from you or your Support Coordinator soon.

About
Social skills and the ability to connect with
others are something many take for granted. However, now that we have been in
isolation for a while everything can get a little more challenging and skills
we may have found easy in the past may get lost or are hard to translate in the
virtual environments.
Join our coffee & cards groups. This group is
about connecting with others and developing social skills for the new world we
live it. Each week we will catch up to work on our cards while we chatter away
about life, the universe and everything in between. We will have challenges for
each week to keep the projects interesting and learn a bunch of new techniques
along the way. Whilst guidance, prompts, tutorials and a selection of monthly
card making supplies will be provided, participants will need their own tools
and are encouraged to utilise any supplies they may have at home already as we
know you might have an awesome stash hidden away that may have a bit of dust on
them ;-). This group is less structured to allow for creativity and a range of
skill levels.
It’s held in our special online platform that
allows for blended learning. All you need to access the platform is a good
internet connection and an electronic device with a webcam. The platform is a
secure purpose build space that allows for a virtual classroom (video is
encouraged by not required), chat, forums, written guides, videos and
interactive activities. We hope it is a place you can feel safe to tell your
truths, face your inner self and become part of a new support network. The
group sizes will still be kept small for the best chance to actually get to
know each other and more directed support.
Together we will share achievements and
celebrations, but where it’s also okay to not-be-okay. At Art For The Mind
there is no requirement to participate, although we know you’ll love it when
you do. We understand that sometimes just simply logging in and showing up is
an achievement enough.
