Scrap That
Scrap That is our new addition to our blended
learning programs. It’s been created to assist in these times of self
isolation, quarantines and lock downs with a focus on building memories and
looking for what brings us joy in life.
Like all Art For The Mind blended programs, it has
been built for the long term as well as the current situation, to ensure
options to expand social networks and engage those who may normally have
limited access to attending face-to-face groups.
I hope this new option can bridge the gap for you and I look forward to hearing from you or your Support Coordinator soon.

About
Join our crafting group. Each week we will work on
our albums, some on more traditional scrap booking style and others on more modern
smash book style. Some will work on looking at documenting this very historic
period we are living through for future generation. Documenting it as not only
record keepers but seeking out documenting the good times and acts of kindness,
community and humanity that have sparked life in these dark times. Others will
focus on the better times, recording past people, places and events that
sparked joy. What do you want to record? Guidance and prompts on all aspects of
developing their albums will be provided.
It’s held in our special online platform that
allows for blended learning. All you need to access the platform is a good
internet connection and an electronic device with a webcam. The platform is a
secure purpose build space that allows for a virtual classroom (video is
encouraged by not required), chat, forums, written guides, videos, recording of
missed classes, and interactive activities. We hope it is a place you can feel
safe to tell your truths, face your inner self and become part of a new support
network. The group sizes will still be kept small for the best chance to
actually get to know each other and more directed support.
We will introduce a range of spiritual and mental
health strategies. It will involve an open discussion, possible handouts or an
activity. These will be done in a light-hearted manner and you will be
encouraged to host this section and share an activity or strategy you use with
the class. It will not be therapy itself but act as a bit of a taster to see if
this is of interest or a possible effective strategy.
Together we will share achievements and
celebrations, but where it’s also okay to not-be-okay. At Art For The Mind
there is no requirement to participate, although we know you’ll love it when
you do. We understand that sometimes just simply logging in and showing up is
an achievement enough.
